STORIES OF RAIN •  SCHEDULE  •  ARTISTS  •  FACEBOOK International artists • Hosts • Participants International Artists Ko, Seung-hyun (Korea) is a founding member of YATOO, a Korean Nature Artists’ Association, which began in 1981 and has participated in more than 30 international nature art festivals since 1991. Since 2002 he has continuously installed ‘Kayageum’ based on the concept of ‘The Sound of A Hundred Years’. He is currently the committee leader for the Geumgang Nature Art Biennale. Ko is also working as a chief commissioner of the 2014-2018 Global Nomadic Art Project. Ko’s most recent solo exhibition in 2013 was titled ‘The Sound of Hundred Years’ and took place at the Vilnius Kayageum (EUROPOS PARKAS), the Open-Air Art Museum in Lithuania. STORIES OF RAIN •  SCHEDULE  •  ARTISTS  •  FACEBOOK 8 September - 6 October 2016 #GNAP2016 #StoriesOfRain #SouthAfrica Stories of Rain traces the legacy of the first nomadic peoples of southern Africa. Local artists guide international artists through varied landscapes and world heritage rock art sites across South Africa, creating temporary nature art responses along the way. Nature art is a non-destructive ephemeral art practice that uses natural materials and structures found at a chosen site to construct or perform a temporary artwork. Its practice engages meditative processes in preference to formal considerations, and artists will often repeat the same forms at different locations. In this time of palpable climate change, humanity finds itself at the cusp of profound natural and cultural transformation. #capelandart We meet once a month A group of artists meet once a month at a different site within an hour's drive to Cape Town, to create temporary installations, performances and sculptures that accentuate elements of the landscape or represents a conversation between the artist and the site. The event is open and informal, and anyone interested in joining is welcome to participate. Join us Join us to create and hold a space where larger collaborative projects can grow, and creative relationships fostered, in a way that could contribute creatively to society, the urban environment or our understanding of our role and place within ecology. Enaba Productions will launch a short art film on the Environmental Art Project (28 July to 28 August 2014). Anni Snyman (Site_Specific) will discuss Site_Specific's 2016 NOMAD project, and initiate a second Nature Art workshop in the botanical garden. Participating artists will be present to give feedback on their respective experiences. The workshop is FREE and open to the public, please confirm your attendance.
