The Land Art Biennale event includes public programmes for visitors and participants to engage in during the week of 10 - 17 August 2013. As artists are working on setting up their various land art installations, visitors will be able to observe their progress and attend public lectures and performances. Visitors can also register and participate in Site_Specific's Public Programmes.

AUGUST Saturday 10th - Saturday 17th, 2013
SATURDAY 10th Invited Artists & SIDES Artists arrive.
14h00 INFO DESK opens
Will be open Monday – Saturday for further registrations & information about the #LandArtBiennale.

18h00 REGISTRATION starts
Information session and registration of artists and participants who have arrived in Plettenberg Bay.

SUNDAY 11th Site_Specific International Land Art Biennale
COMPETITION Land Art Photography
Visitors and participants can post their daily images on Pinterest for the duration of the event and one week after using the #LandArtBiennale tag. Daily favourites will be selected by online audiences and professional photographers & artists.
10h30 UNVEILING Calling the Herd
  Strijdom van der Merwe's installation of the second permanent land art work along the Eden to Addo Land Art Route.
Venue: Crossroads R339 & R340, Prince Alfred Pass

12h00 Kranshoek Community BAZAAR
Traditional music and an introduction to the fascinating culture of the Griqua people. Food on sale.
Venue: Kranshoek, 'Aartmoeders' by Simon Max Bannister, the first permanent land art work erected in 2011 along the Eden to Addo Land Art Route.

MONDAY 12th Land Art Installations commence
Forty artists start work on their land art installations to be completed within less than five days. Visitors are welcome to view their progress.
Venues: Lookout Beach, Lookout Rocks, Hobie Beach, Main Beach, Piesangriver Lagoon, Beacon Island Rocks and Robberg Beach

Eco-Art WALK: Nature's Valley to Keurboomstrand

and Galeo Saintz facilitate a two-day meditative walk & talk guide along the beach.
19h30 Public LECTURE Land Art

WORKSHOP Land Art Photography
A three day workshop with professional photographers Daron Chatz, Anja Wiehl, and Vanessa Van Vreden on land art photography.

The Seity performance[art] group is deconstructing the myth Icarus as a travelling performance with winged wo/men.
Venue: starts at the Timbershed and ends at Beacon Island Resort

SATURDAY 17th 2nd International Land Art Biennale
WORKSHOP Beach Calligraphy Andrew van der Merwe presents a one-day workshop on beach calligraphy.
10h00 OPENING Ceremony
The Western Cape Minister of Finance, Economic Development and Tourism, Alan Winde, officially opens Site_Specific's 2nd International Land Art Biennale for public viewing. The Phakimisani Primary School Choir from Kwanokuthula will be singing at the event.

12h00 PERFORMANCE site-specific
Sula inyembezi (wipe your tears) is an interactive performance facilitated by the Seity performance[art] group in collaboration with Lunchbox Theatre, Bitou Brothers Acapella Choir, and youths from various communities in the area.
Venue: Old Dairy situated in Kwanokuthula
SUNDAY 18th Site_Specific International LAND ART Biennale
On view for one week, or until nature reclaims it.
SUNDAY 25th Land Art Photography Competition closes.
SEPTEMBER 1st WINNER Land Art Photography Competition
Media announcement of competiton winner/s on facebook. First prize is a weekend for two at the Beacon Island Resort in Plettenberg Bay (terms and conditions apply).
